Ma3005 Control Theory
Avoid taking the module when Cuong is the lecturer, he set too hard questions for exams, but he is a very good tutor as his explanation is very clear
I have his lecture recording which is fabulous as he is very detailed and systemic in the teaching
The main idea of this module is how you program control system that controls industrial machines like General Electric gas turbine or Siemens Digital Factory or Motion Control products.
The control system helps to bring the machine back to it's set point when it detects a varience in the behaviour. It is like how your parents will discipline you when you are out of line.

MA 4837 Net Shape Manufacturing
MA 4837 Net Shape Manufacturing
This is one of the easiest module to score for your Major Prescribed Elective. It is basically a memorization module. Just memorise and vomit after that
40% , 3x quiz
60% Exams
Part 1: Powder Metallurgy (Loh Ngiap Hiang)
Sintering of metal powders, how to make the metal powders. Advanced Metal Casting (similar to the one that is used to cast the airplane gas turbine blades
1. Conventional powder metallurgy (P/M) 2. Metal injection molding (MIM) 3. Powder forging (P/F) 4. Hot isostatic pressing (HIP) 5. Cold isostatic pressing (CIP)
Part 2: Polymer Process (Sandy Chian)
A small part which is only like 20% of final exams
Part 3: Metal Forming (Loh Ngiap Hiang)
Rolling, Forging, Extrusion and Wire and bar drawing. Sheet bending or cup drawing

Ma4002 Fluids Dynamics
This module is known to have quite a high number of failure rates.. Good to study ahead before semester starts
Taught by 2 professors Part 1 is Chua Leok Poh and part 2 is Tran Anh Tuan
Exams is 50% Part 1 and 50% Part 2. Part 1 has 2 questions, Part 2 also has 2 questions
40% quiz results, 20% is part 1 and 20% is part 2.
Part 1 is not recorded for tutorial go though and exams question go though... But I have the recording if you want... This is the best part to score if you practice hard enough... It is just hardcore maths that is repeated.
Part 2 the lecturer does go though the exam question and tutorial during the lecture recording.. However the feeling is like Ma2007 Thermodynamics whereby you need to know which table to get your values and substitute into the equations

Ma4001 Engineering Design
For this module, it is a 4AU module. A Time intensive module which have a project to design some sort of system or equipment and a exams portion
Marks: 50% Project, 50% Exams
The Project would consist of a individual logbook, end of project interview, the initial idea presentation and the final project report
Tips: Ensure you score for the initial idea presentation. More details on the mechanical aspect of the project... Flow the flow analysis that they want you to design the system in.
Avoid taking the module in Semester 1 as Part 2 question is hard.... It involves some graph scratching... Semester 2 is easier as it is just brute force calculation.
Other than that Part 1, 3 and 4 professors dont change much.
Part 1: Design architecture (Samuel Lim or
Part 2: Materials selection
Part 3: PLC Selection and Drive system (Dr John Heng)
Par 4: Hydraulics and Cost estimation (Ang Hock Eng)
